RUO Reviews is operated by Proofmark Media, LLC. We collect as little as we can, we don't sell data, and we don't use advertising trackers or third-party analytics.
What we collect
- Your email address, to sign you in and to tell you when your review is published or needs something. It's never shown publicly.
- Your handle, which is public and shown on your reviews. Don't use your real name.
- Your reviews: rating, title and text (public once published). If our screen edits your wording, we hold your original only until you accept the edit or rewrite, then delete it along with the removed words. Edits you never act on are deleted after 7 days. We keep which categories were removed and when, never the words.
- The order number and date you enter. The order number is stored only as a one-way hash, and the readable copy is deleted once the vendor has answered.
- If a vendor invited you: the vendor sent us your email, order number and order date. See Data and privacy for exactly how long we keep those.
- Basic server logs (IP address, browser, pages requested) for security and troubleshooting, kept for up to 30 days. Helpful votes and reports store a one-way hash of your IP address, not the address itself.
What we don't do
- We don't sell or rent your information or share it for advertising.
- We don't show your email to vendors. When a vendor confirms your order, they see a masked version (like j***@gmail.com).
- We don't use tracking pixels or third-party analytics.
Cookies
One cookie keeps you signed in. That's it.
How we count visits
We count page views ourselves, without cookies. Your IP address and browser type are combined with a key that changes every day and turned into a code that can't be reversed or linked from one day to the next. We keep only daily totals, never the IP address. Review widgets on vendors' stores send the same kind of anonymous view and click counts, which the vendor sees as totals in their dashboard.
Who processes it
- A hosting provider in the United States: runs the site and database.
- A network and security provider: protects the site.
- An email delivery provider: sends our emails.
- An AI screening provider: screens review wording before publishing. It sees review text only, never your email or order number.
How long we keep it
Your account and reviews stay until you delete them. Deleted reviews and accounts are removed from the site and database right away; the record that a review existed (not its content) stays in our moderation log.
Your choices
- Change your handle, or delete any review or your whole account, from your account.
- Stop all review invitations with the link at the bottom of any invitation email.
- Ask for a copy of your data, or anything else, at [email protected].
Changes
If we change this policy in a meaningful way, we'll update it here and change the date at the top.
