How RUO Score works

One score. One formula. Every vendor.

RUO Score is a 1 to 5 score built from published reviews. The math is public and identical for every vendor, whatever plan they're on.

The four rules

1

Newer reviews count more

A review's weight halves every 365 days, so the score follows how a vendor treats buyers now, not years ago.

2

Small samples are pulled toward the middle

Before averaging, we add 5 reviews' worth of weight at 3.5 stars. A handful of perfect reviews can't outrank hundreds of strong ones.

3

Every published review counts the same

Both labels carry equal weight. The label tells you how the order was proven, not how much it counts.

4

No score below 5 reviews

Until a vendor has 5 published reviews, the profile shows the reviews without a score. A score from two reviews would say more about luck than the vendor.

The formula

score = (5 × 3.5 + Σ weight × stars) ÷ (5 + Σ weight)
weight = 0.5 ^ (age in days ÷ 365)

Rounded to one decimal. Recalculated every time a review is published or removed.

What never affects it

  • Which plan the vendor is on
  • Vendor replies
  • Helpful votes
  • Removed reviews, which drop out entirely

Star colors fade lighter for lower ratings so you can read a score at a glance. See how verification works for where reviews come from.
